CFHS and DRDC Research in the time of COVID-19: Pushing through
Lunch and learn session hosted by CIMVHR, the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), and Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC)
The global COVID-19 pandemic created significant difficulties, as well as enormous opportunities, for medical research. Despite having to adjust traditional research studies and knowledge translations, medical research has progressed worldwide, and this is equally true for CIMVHR, Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC), as well as the Canadian Forces Health Services (CFHS) research projects.
This webinar – a collaboration between CIMVHR, CFHS, DRDC, and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) – provided the occasion for various key stakeholders to discuss and disseminate emerging research conducted during the pandemic that had and still has an impact on military, Veterans, and their families. The speakers and experts showed that by leveraging talent within various institutions, high-quality and meaningful research could progress during the pandemic.
Three of the research collaborations focused on results from COVID-19 therapeutic studies, and the fourth presented results on an innovative therapy for one of the most lethal problems in combat casualty care: non-compressible intra-abdominal hemorrhage.
